Trinidad Coastal Resilience Meeting
The Trinidad Bay Watershed Council will be hosting a Coastal Resilience Meeting at Trinidad Town Hall, 409 Trinity St., Trinidad, and via zoom on Monday, July 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. Information about the meeting (including zoom registration) and the Trinidad Community Coastal Resilience Planning Project is available at: https://trinidad.ca.gov/coastal-resilience-project. This is the second in a series of meetings to share information about the Planning Project and to gather public input about climate concerns and strategies to address them.
“With climate change and sea level rise upon us, we must plan for meeting the challenge of rising seas and changing sea conditions. TBWC can provide a forum for community discussion to learn from those with intimate knowledge of areas of vulnerability and local issues with the goal of developing strategies for addressing those vulnerabilities. The Watershed Council was formed for sharing ideas and strategies on how to maintain a healthy watershed and healthy community around Trinidad Bay, " says Watershed Council founding member Don Allan.
Trinidad Mayor Cheryl Kelly expressed her view on the benefits of attending a meeting at the Trinidad Town Hall, especially regarding such an important issue, "One of the great things about public meetings in Trinidad is that they are intimate, and every voice is heard. The Trinidad Community Coastal Resilience Planning meeting is a perfect example of this type of forum. Please join us on July 17th to learn more about coastal hazards and provide critical input on the issues you would like to see addressed in the action plan."
The Coastal Resilience Action Plan will be completed in 2024 and will include project ideas and strategies to increase the Trinidad community’s resilience to climate change.
