Spring Plants in the King Range

Join Sanctuary Forest on Saturday, May 25th for the Spring Plants in the King Range Hike. This easy to moderate hike is an opportunity for participants to learn more about our native plants and how to identify them! Come take a walk with native plant enthusiast Cheryl Lisin of the Lost Coast Interpretive Association and explore riparian and forest habitats at the Nadelos Campground in the King Range. The hike travels along South Fork Bear Creek where we will see riparian plants and wildflowers blooming, then uphill through a forest of old growth fir, madrone and chinquapin where we will look into the canopies of the trees and the views beyond. The trail is level as it winds along North Fork Bear creek for a mile, then moderately steep for a mile as we hike up into the tree canopy. Bring a snack and drinking water and dress in layers as it can be cold along the creek. Waterproof footwear is a plus. Nadelos Campground is on Chemise Mt. Rd., 1.5 miles south of Shelter Cove Rd. Meet at Sanctuary Forest at 10am to carpool, the tour will begin at 11am and end at 1pm. To learn more, contact Sanctuary Forest at (707)986-1087 x 9# or anna@sanctuaryforest.org.
