HSU Madrigal Singers and Mad River Transit Singers

Please join the HSU Department of Music and conductor Rachel Samet for a sweet and eclectic evening of choral music featuring the HSU Madrigal Singers and Mad River Transit Singers on Sunday, December 3rd at 8:00 p.m. in Fulkerson Recital Hall. The Madrigal Singers start the show with a theme to warm and brighten the darkening winter nights, The Fire of Ten Million Stars. Titles include Rain, Beautiful Rain by Joseph Shabalala, Rest Sweet Nymphs by Francis Pilkington, Behold a Star from Jacob Rising from Christus by Felix Mendelssohn, Sure on this Shining Night, poem by James Agee, music by Morten Lauridsen, and an Ed Lojseki arrangement of I Sing the Body Electric from Fame by Michael Gore and Dean Pitchford. Part two features a program titled Open Your Eyes, You Can Fly which will be performed by HSU's resident vocal jazz ensemble the Mad River Transit Singers. Their repertoire includes a Mac Huff arrangement of Old Devil Moon from Finian’s Rainbow by Harburg and Lane, Van Morrison's Moondance, arranged by Jeremy Fox, Chick Corea's Open Your Eyes, You Can Fly, lyrics by Neville Potter and arranged by Rosana Eckert, Holiday Jazz Trio and Peace Music, both arranged by Michele Weir, Stuff Like That There Music by Livingston and Evans, and a Kirby Shaw arrangement of Everybody's Boppin' by Jon Hendricks. Vocal soloists included Elisha Moore, Kira Weiss, Allie Merten, Nina Egbert, Maddie Simbirdi, Haley Rhouault, McKinlee Burkhardt, Paige Hernandez, Maeve Moriarty, and Tina Okoye. Joshua Abrams will be featured on guitar, performing with the Madrigal Singers. $8 General, $5 Senior/Child, FREE for HSU students with ID.
