Friday Night Bat Walk
The Shorebird Loop Trail will stay open after sunset for this special event.
Meet at the Visitor Center at 7:30pm and join Cal Poly Humboldt’s Joseph Szewczak and Student Conservation Association Intern Nicole Matonak for an evening bat walk. Using a portable SonoBat Live recording system, walk and watch bat calls be interpreted as visual frequencies on screen and identify species. Learn about local bat species, their natural ecosystem and history in Humboldt County and find out how you can help protect them. Bring a flashlight for walking back along the trail after dark.
