Find Your Inner Fairy! A Family Literacy Party with Shoshanna

Fairies of all ages are invited to create their own Fairy or Elf house while hearing stories and finding out what it takes to find your own Fairy path and figure out just what kind of magic you can weave in your community!

Are you a Water Fairy? Spring? Fire? Snow? Sparkle? Dragon? Are you a Gardening Fairy? Cooking? Cleaning? Are you an Engineering Fairy? Space Fairy? Animal Fairy?

A limited number of free craft kits are available to early fairies at the Arcata or McKinleyville Library, or at the children’s desk in the Eureka Library, starting Friday, January 21, during library open hours, 12 noon to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

You may also scout your home ahead of time for items like: a paper plate/bowl/cup, pom poms, fabric bits, beads, straws, sparkly jewels, small cardboard tubes, foil, pipe cleaners, tiny boxes, ribbons, twisty ties, springs, broken jewelry, lids, plastic pieces, and anything else that looks like fun! You can use hot glue (with help), glue, tape, string, rubber bands, clay, or playdough to connect things!

Humboldt's longtime "Community Fairy," Shoshanna has taught Fairy & Elf House making with Girl Scouts, Humboldt County Library’s Kids Create program, HCOE Family Maker Nights, Fairy Camps, Birthday Parties, and more. She is the Kinetic Fairy Princess, Arcata’s Halloween Fairy and Snowflake Queen, and loves to encourage creative thinking and problem-solving along with appreciation of the potential in upcycled treasures kept out of the trash.

Since 1981, Humboldt Literacy Project has connected adults who want help with their reading and writing with volunteer tutors for free, confidential, one-on-one English language studies. Family Literacy Parties aim to include the whole household in this venture of learning and fun. Meet us on Zoom, meeting code 869 2305 1012
