ENC/HBAC Lecture Series

Explore North Coast and the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center as co-sponsors invites the public to their Lecture Series featuring Dr. Sean Craig a professor and marine ecologist at HSU. Dr. Craig’s talk will be on jelly fish and nudibranchs. Dr Craig’s talk is timely as our members are currently seeing massive swarms of Sea Nettle Jelly Fish in the waters off Trinidad. His talk will be followed by ENC members presenting a slide show on their recent kayak expedition to God’s Pocket Marine Provincial Park. God’s Pocket is a set of small islands off the north coast of Vancouver Island. This area has been called one of the finest marine reserves in the world. The lecture is scheduled for Monday, November 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center, 921 Waterfront Drive, Eureka. Admission is free. Dr. Craig’s Bio: Dr Sean Craig teaches introductory zoology, invertebrate zoology, advanced invertebrate biology, and intertidal ecology. His research ranges from the evolutionary ecology of colonial marine invertebrates and the nudibranchs that feed upon them to applied problems, such as how invasive marine bryozoans have adapted a resistance to copper in ship hull paints and how to track and conserve marine protected areas including rocky coasts and kelp beds.
