Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary Bird Walk

Join Redwood Region Audubon Society for a free guided field trip at the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday, August 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Bring your binoculars and meet trip leader Dan Greaney at the end of South I Street (Klopp Lake) in Arcata for easy-to-walk trails and an opportunity to view a diverse range of species. August marks the beginning of shorebird migration, so species like dowitchers, yellowlegs, godwits, curlews, and whimbrels might be present. Ducks who call the marsh home for the winter, such as Northern shovelers, wigeons, and buffleheads, may also be trickling in. Meet the trip leader at the closure of I Street if construction closes the road.
