(VIDEO) Your Annual Reminder That Quadiators is a Thing That Happens in Fortuna

Humans! What strides we’ve made here on the marble! ’Twas the ancient Greeks of Athens who first cooked up democracy! Some time later, 9th century Tang dynasty alchemists gave us wonderful gunpowder. And, of course, historians will never forget the denizens of the City of Fortuna, creators of Quadiators. Blessings upon them all!

Friday night of Fortuna Rodeo Week is Motorsports Night at the Rohner Park Rodeo Grounds, an event headlined by the aforementioned Quadiators. If you don’t know what Quadiators is, for years here at LoCO we’ve used “live action Mario Kart” as shorthand to describe it. Essentially teams of two mount a quad — one driver and one attacker. The attacker has a balloon affixed to his helmet which other teams attempt to pop using whiffle ball bats and vice versa. This is fun, both for the competitors and gathered spectators, however sometimes tensions can run a bit high, as was chronicled in arguably Fortuna’s most viral video. Watch it below and/or scroll your Lowdown listings below for more Friday distractions.
